The McKinnon Family.
Meeting this happy go lucky family was one of the highlights of the most recent Family of the Season competition I had the pleasure of running a few weeks back. It was simple, vote for your favourite family and decide yes or no if you wanted to accept the voter's gift.
Well, this family chose the gift ( Tanisha did to be precise ) and followed through with their colourful shoot a couple of weeks later at a country location as discussed and decided upon prior to this day.
Consisting of mum, dad and all the children big and small + one very loved boyfriend we had everyone laughing within 20 mins of the session starting as each of them began to relax.
Mum hates photos if we are honest most of us or at least one of us either mum or dad aren't fussed on being in front of the camera these days. But you know what, it is so so important that we are. We will all look back one day and wonder where the years went? How did our tiny precious babies become adults and now parents themselves?. We go from changing nappies to waving them goodbye as they drive down our driveway. To me that makes me sad, happy and emotional all at once.
Do you know what you can do about it though? BE IN YOUR PHOTOS!!! Be present in all family memories, in every happy moment captured on film, camera or phone. Don't always be the one behind the camera lens or phone be the one in front of it!. Because if you don't become present in your families memories now because you are too busy, or don't like how you look, or think " I need to lose another 5kgs then I'll do it", there might not be a tomorrow.
Seriously how do you know there will be a tomorrow with that loved one? I'm not meaning to sound like a downer but you don't do you?
So my one BIG message in this is, BE PRESENT IN YOUR FAMILIES MEMORIES. For the moment right now to admire them on your walls and for your children and children's children to admire once we are no longer here! You are important, you are important to your family as they are too you. Put them first and be in your own precious memories because god knows where we will be tomorrow.
FAMILY IS EVERYTHING, BEING PRESENT IN YOUR FAMILIES MINDS AND MEMORIES IS JUST AS IMPORTANT!
Think about it :)
